When hiring a truck or moving you should find out what is included in the cost. Many companies have truck packages that are specifically designed for people who are moving house. These trucks will include moving accessories such as heavy duty dollies, blankets, and straps and can often provide you with moving boxes. Be aware that the cost of hiring or purchasing these accessories separately can be very high – and the dolly in particular is essential in helping you have a smooth and easy move. Unless the truck rental company is offering a very low price then you should try and ensure that these extras are included. They  are often offered as an additional package. 


 

What to Think About When Hiring a Truck for Moving

Don’t just settle for the first truck you find – make sure you know what your options are to ensure you are only paying for what you need. You need to decide what size truck you will need as they come in a whole range of different sizes. There’s no point paying for a truck that is larger than you need. The most common problem that rental agencies have are that people hire trucks that are either too large or too small. You should always compare prices between different truck rental companies. Prices can be very different for the same product. Ask for a quote at several truck companies and see what these prices include – do you get moving accessories as we mentioned above? 

 

You should always ask if they charge you for a one-way trip or will charge you for returning the truck to its point of origin. Although this is reasonable if you are travelling a very long distance, if you are just travelling locally you should try and find one that only charges you for a one-way trip. Cardboard moving boxes can be very expensive – however ask your truck rental company if they can offer you any discounts on these if you rent from them. They are usually happy to offer this.
